Description:
The Business Technology curriculum includes both the Business Technology class and the Secretarial Technology class.
Business Technology is a course designed for students to develop skills in typing, use of the electronic calculator, letter writing, reprographics, filing, transcribing, and word- processing. Students explore career opportunities, learn proper telephone etiquette, learn mail procedures, and learn to use the FAX machine. It also helps students develop personal qualities and attitudes needed in the business world.
Secretarial Technology is designed for students to improve shorthand skills, including dictation and transcription. Students also develop skills in filing, word processing, typing, transcribing, reprograpics, letter writing, and use of the electronic calculator. Shorthand is a valuable skill for taking notes in college or for use on the job. This is a useful class for anyone interested in becoming a legal, medical, or executive secretary.
Business Technology is a two-hour course. Secretarial Technology is a three-hour course. These classes are open to both 11th and 12th grade high school students and to adults. Business Technology is required before taking Secretarial Technology.
