    Carpentry is the single largest craft in the construction industry. The construction industry is a vital part of the nation's economy. It employs millions of people with different trades and skills.
    Students enrolled in the Carpentry class at Current River Area Vocational School will learn valuable skills in all areas of residential construction. Each year the class project is the construction of a new HOME. This project provides students an opportunity to learn basic building skills, good jobsite safety practices, desirable work habits, and self-confidence in their abilities. Students who successfully complete this training will find themselves rewarded with enhanced job opportunities as they enter the world of work.
    Current River Area Vocational School offers Carpentry to 11th and 12th grade high school students and to adults. The class meets five days a week, morning or afternoon, for three hours per day. To receive the full benefit of training is recommended, but not required.

Employment Outlook:
    At present, there is a shortfall in skilled construction workers. This shortage will run into the 21st century according to projections by the United States Department of Labor Construction workers can realistically expect to find jobs that will provide incomes ranging from $19,000 to $36,000 annually, depending on different regions of the country.
