Description:
    Computers are important elements of the technical complexity of the future. A basic foundation of the principles of computers and networking are essential to produce young people that are ready for the needs of a computerized world. The Cisco Networking Academy program teaches high school and college students how to design, build and maintain computer networks. The Cisco Networking Academy Program teaches students to design, build, and maintain computer networks. The Academy curriculum covers a broad range of topics, from basic networking skills such as pulling cable to more complex concepts such as applying advanced troubleshooting tools.
    Semesters one through four of the Academy program, equivalent to 280 hours of instruction, provide students with a basic foundation in networking. Students who successfully complete this portion of the program are eligible to earn Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA™) certification. The first four semesters are available at the secondary and post-secondary level.
    First year computer technology is limited to 11th grade high school students and to adults. The first year, students complete semesters one and two.
    Second year Networking Administration is available to 12th grade high school students or to adults that have completed the first year course. The second year students complete semesters three and four.
    Networking Administration is a three-hour block course. Permission to enroll for less that three hours is sometimes allowed, but must have the approval of the sending school counselor and the Vocational School Director.

Employment Outlook:
    With the advent of the personal computer system, computers are not only found in large companies and businesses, but are now found in HOMEs, on farms, and small businesses alike. Almost every aspect of daily life is affected in some way by a computer. This has caused a revolution in the computer field.
    The computer industry ranks as one of the nation's leading areas of employment. A variety of specialized jobs and careers are available to qualified graduates. The computer field is constantly changing, and areas of employment are expanding rapidly, well into the 21st century.

The CISCO Networking Academy Program:
    The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a partnership between Cisco Systems, education, business, government, and community organizations around the world. The networking academy curriculum centers on teaching students to design, build, and maintain computer networks. The Program prepares students for the 21st Century workplace, while serving as a valuable model for e-learning.
